Why SotW? Well, Silentverge has added some wonderful potions to the game, potions that can be crafted or found or traded- that means that half of my work was already done for me. Thus, a Survival of the Wild addon was born. But I wanted better potions, less potions, and more reason to rest at bonfires.
The bonfire system adds potions, and respawns enemies, giving a nice carrot and stick mechanic to the game. But the mod author did do one thing very right. In addition to that, the "estus flasks" that were added were too plentiful for SotW, and just retextured icons of certain baked goods, so the two mods would be incompatible because of the SotW edits to healing.
I tried Hyrule Souls but didn't like all the changes it made, like non lore friendly names and no weapon damage, etc. Why does this mod exist? Because every game should be more like dark souls. Haven't figured out how to add blood moons to the respawn event yet, so you'll have to rest at the bonfire where the old man sits to cause enemies to respawn.
